Chenoa Egawa hosts our first episode from the Daybreak Cultural Center during a benefit concert for the Commemoration of the Battle of Fort Lawton forty years ago. Native Heartbeat is thrilled to have Tlingt artist Gene Tagaban sing and dance for the entire show. Gene Tagaban dances the Raven Dance, tells the story of how Raven freed the Sun, Moon and Stars into the sky and sings and drums a song from his clan.

Mystique Hurtado hosts the show from the University of Washington’s Winter Pow Wow. Stories include: a look into the Native BRIDGE organization and its efforts to bring Elders and youth together. Native Heartbeat reporter Frank Giese attends the Tacoma Art Museum’s Coastal Native Celebration, we take you to Alert Bay on the British Columbia’s coast to visit the U’mista Cultural Center and finally Jeremiah George tells us the news from Throughout our Native Nations.

Chenoa Egawa hosts our fourth edition featuring the Nisqually Canoe Family as they journey to the 2011 Paddle to Swinomish Potlatch. We follow the Canoe family as they leave the Squaxin Island beach and travel up through Puget Sound and the Salish Sea to there destination at the Swinomish Reservation near La Conner, WA. This week long cultural and spiritual journey has become a tradition for the tribes and bands of Washington State and British Columbia, Canada.
